freedom.justice.truth.
I don’t usually write about politics as it gets me riled up but I find the situation within our own backyard of Malaysia has come to a point I can’t accept it anymore.
I know we don’t have so much freedom of speech as other countries as to do so would be considered too controversial and might incite certain incidences.
But I applaud my fellow Malaysians who do. I’ve been quiet or rather ignorant about what has been happening in the last 3-4 years but I believe now it’s time for me to understand and be more active.
I have to admit I believe my myself to be more leftist or rather socialist because I believe that. The people is what makes a country. The people is what defines the country and all its happenings. But lately I’ve come to see that power is only to the few, which is not a bad thing except when the few are making the people suffer.
It seems like the people are afraid of the government which I find is wrong as it is the people who were supposedly the one’s who put those few people in power. If that was the case, why should the people be afraid of the government. They are supposed to act on our behalf and yet we are in fear.
To be in fear of the government…Doesn’t that sound a bit like a dictatorship to an extent?
When truth is told and we have our government, our elected government, blatantly denying as such (although obvious) and starting to lock those up is purely unlike how it should be.
“the truth shall set you free”
The phrase seems to differ when in our beautiful yet young country. 45 years. That is how old our wonderful Malaysia is. And mind you I am not being sarcastic when I say our country is wonderful.
I love the fact our country can be superbly multiracial. To have as such and to an extent be able to live side by side is a wonderful thing. I don’t deny there is a hint of racism here and there, it happens. It happens even the USA and other European countries. But mind you it happens because of the few dissatisfied, insecure and just unaccepting persons.
Growing up I had a wonderful blend of friends and classmates and if you look back when all of us were younger, we never really had this idea of racism. We were all friends who played with each other. Eventually as we grew up and supposedly learnt and matured, we started to an extent develop these whole segregation based on race and religion. Personally I don’t believe its because we innately think so but so much more of we’ve learnt it from the environment. The social status quo or talks of a somewhat insignificant people who are just insecure of themselves and have the need to blame others but themselves for certain misfortunes that befall them.
Again the play of stereotypes emerge and this again further justifies to some to take it as truth and start to judge and compare. Intolerance, or how I like to see it as unacceptance. I do not prefer to tolerate as it means I only deal with it but still bear a negative image. I prefer to accept. But again its easier said than done.
I suppose what I’m suggesting is to accept the person as a whole and not based by race or religion. Again I’d use the example of would I be friends with you for being “A” or for being nice? I’d rather use a letter than to use any race or religion. I mean if you were an “A” but a single (or particular) “A” in your proximity is just mean and you outrightly dislike that “A”, would you still befriend him/her? And be friends with “B” or “C”. Again I know this is so general and it bigger than that. The dynamics or workings of the whole group idea is way larger and is indeed complicated as it is. I mean between teams there are rivalries, and naturally within the team itself might have another different team or groups. Groups inside the main groups.
I suppose the whole thing is way more than I can think of the moment, but what I think is now, as a country, we shouldn’t see our color of skin or the different beliefs of faith we have but rather the identity of Malaysia.
Simply said, fairness for all. Equal rights for all. Freedom for all. Peace for all. It’s difficult coz end of the day, we as human beings just need to have this group identity and it’s usually kinda fucked up.
Sigh. It’s so complicated.
What I’m saying isn’t anything new and has been talked about always. This whole race and religion thing is what irks me basically.
Why can’t we all just accept each other and just not have to fight.
Stop being insecure really!!!!
Fucking assholes….
