Rick Nizam’s view on life

It’s set.. The day is set in paper and notice of marriage is filed. Yes the time has come for me to take that next step in the relationship.

I’ve spoken to both our parents and they have given their blessings to the both of us.

What will happen in October will be a family event and closed doors. The most is probably Lisa’s friend to take pictures.

It surreal but I’m actually looking forward to a new beginning to the both of our lives.

With love…..

XOXO

Happy new year! What will 2009 bring…..

So far a rough start. Relocating to a new apartment and unfortunately rushed as it has to take place immediately since I got back from Kuching.

What the f**k!!!!

Somehow it was a lucky thing I came back before Sunday if not I wouldve gone back to an empty apartment and room with no bed.

It’s been crap as I’ve gotten word a relative of mine would have no hesitation to enter MY ROOM and take the bed without even informing me. It upsets and disappoints me that a relative would do such a thing. I’ve been trying to get a hold of him but could never seem to so naturally I’d inform my mother since only she is able to get in contact. It kinda makes me look bad but what else could I do.

Anyway I’ve moved out as many things possible and over the week till the next weekend would I only be able to completely move everything. All with the help of friends, not family. I have lost trust already with whom I am suppose to trust. Sad but true.

Fake smiles was all I got.

Maybe I have sinned or offended but as far as I believe I’ve done almost what I could possibly have done or have tried to do.

I am however very thankful for my supportive significant other and my buddies from back home who is here. By the looks of it Sarawakians are still the virtuous people! I am proud to have hailed from Sarawak!!

God bless to all and have a better spanking new year! Hopefully mine will get better!!

Special shout out to my kendo mates back in Perth!!!

A couple beers with a mate even just by a kopitiam is better than being at any pub or bar.

It’s outdoors and bloody cheap! It’s all good to me! Of course grabbing burgers at a roadside stall was better than any Mickey Ds or Burger Kings.

Life seems simple….for the moment.

Xmas shopping is due. Spread the joy now everyone!

Ive been boggled by two delays by AirAsia for this return flight. My flight over I was delayed for about half an hour or so. This time (return flight), the delay seems to be an hour. For a flight that take less than an hour, I find a delay equal or of greater total of flight time as unacceptable.

Marred with the fact that I have work the next morning and that my friends will be picking me up, the delay is not taken so well.

Purely FUBAR.

I don’t usually write about politics as it gets me riled up but I find the situation within our own backyard of Malaysia has come to a point I can’t accept it anymore.

I know we don’t have so much freedom of speech as other countries as to do so would be considered too controversial and might incite certain incidences.

But I applaud my fellow Malaysians who do. I’ve been quiet or rather ignorant about what has been happening in the last 3-4 years but I believe now it’s time for me to understand and be more active.

I have to admit I believe my myself to be more leftist or rather socialist because I believe that. The people is what makes a country. The people is what defines the country and all its happenings. But lately I’ve come to see that power is only to the few, which is not a bad thing except when the few are making the people suffer.

It seems like the people are afraid of the government which I find is wrong as it is the people who were supposedly the one’s who put those few people in power. If that was the case, why should the people be afraid of the government. They are supposed to act on our behalf and yet we are in fear.

To be in fear of the government…Doesn’t that sound a bit like a dictatorship to an extent?

When truth is told and we have our government, our elected government, blatantly denying as such (although obvious) and starting to lock those up is purely unlike how it should be.

“the truth shall set you free”
The phrase seems to differ when in our beautiful yet young country. 45 years. That is how old our wonderful Malaysia is. And mind you I am not being sarcastic when I say our country is wonderful.

I love the fact our country can be superbly multiracial. To have as such and to an extent be able to live side by side is a wonderful thing. I don’t deny there is a hint of racism here and there, it happens. It happens even the USA and other European countries. But mind you it happens because of the few dissatisfied, insecure and just unaccepting persons.

Growing up I had a wonderful blend of friends and classmates and if you look back when all of us were younger, we never really had this idea of racism. We were all friends who played with each other. Eventually as we grew up and supposedly learnt and matured, we started to an extent develop these whole segregation based on race and religion. Personally I don’t believe its because we innately think so but so much more of we’ve learnt it from the environment. The social status quo or talks of a somewhat insignificant people who are just insecure of themselves and have the need to blame others but themselves for certain misfortunes that befall them.

Again the play of stereotypes emerge and this again further justifies to some to take it as truth and start to judge and compare. Intolerance, or how I like to see it as unacceptance. I do not prefer to tolerate as it means I only deal with it but still bear a negative image. I prefer to accept. But again its easier said than done.

I suppose what I’m suggesting is to accept the person as a whole and not based by race or religion. Again I’d use the example of would I be friends with you for being “A” or for being nice? I’d rather use a letter than to use any race or religion. I mean if you were an “A” but a single (or particular) “A” in your proximity is just mean and you outrightly dislike that “A”, would you still befriend him/her? And be friends with “B” or “C”. Again I know this is so general and it bigger than that. The dynamics or workings of the whole group idea is way larger and is indeed complicated as it is. I mean between teams there are rivalries, and naturally within the team itself might have another different team or groups. Groups inside the main groups.

I suppose the whole thing is way more than I can think of the moment, but what I think is now, as a country, we shouldn’t see our color of skin or the different beliefs of faith we have but rather the identity of Malaysia.

Simply said, fairness for all. Equal rights for all. Freedom for all. Peace for all. It’s difficult coz end of the day, we as human beings just need to have this group identity and it’s usually kinda fucked up.

Sigh. It’s so complicated.

What I’m saying isn’t anything new and has been talked about always. This whole race and religion thing is what irks me basically.

Why can’t we all just accept each other and just not have to fight.

Stop being insecure really!!!!

Fucking assholes….

Steve Aoki’s Pillowface and Airplane Chronicles is an album I’d have to admit I enjoy. I’m not really an electronic music enthusiast but I can dig this!!

A great blend of songs in this album but it’s more of a whole album listen then each song. Each track seems to join with each other seamlessly so it’s an album one wouldn’t need to randomly shuffle in the playlist. I’m not so familiar with Aoki’s work per se but I do believe the tracks are more of remixes or re-edits which again I’m not so familiar of since I haven’t been so immersed in electronic music. Personally I enjoy this album and would recommend it to anyone who wants to groove to something different.

Definitely after listening to this I’m interested in going for Steve Aoki’s set if he happens to come to town. Disco and electronic is revived for me!

My Saturday was one that went by with me unable to do what I want to do…From 0900 to 1630 hrs, I had to sit for the Public Service Entrance Exam which I was scheduled for and had to travel a distance from where I live. Bad enough I don’t know how to get there and to rely solely on my street directory, common sense and instinct somehow did get me there. It wasn’t that bad looking for the place and I hardly had to backtrack but coming back to Sunway, I somehow took a path different that I was supposed to. And yes I did have to backtrack.

Once back it wasn’t as though I could sit back and relax after the long day. I had to bathe and dress up for the annual dinner. I somehow adhered to the theme somewhat and went with what may have been seen as a tuxedo but in actual fact it was just me in a suit with a bowtie I got the night before. Unfortunately my original idea of being ultra geeky secret agent ala Chuck (refer to the tv series Chuck) was in play. I didn’t wear my black pair of Converse Chuck Taylor’s also which I should have maybe.

The evening was a first for me, and seeing many colleagues dressed up (or not) was definitely worth it. The itinerary for the evening was well planned and entertainment and decor of the dinner hall was superb. If only they did include some blackjack tables or roulette to go with the theme of ‘Casino Royale’ (dubbed Maersk Royale for the evening).

I managed to bring back a mini hamper for the answer of ‘Guess the movie soundtrack’, overall I could answer almost all of it but alas I was only picked for one, yes thank you Godfather for being one of the greatest (and favourite) movie of all time. :D

Also got 100 bucks worth of gift voucher for Jusco from a lucky draw. Not too bad if I say so myself. Enjoyed myself thoroughly especially with the free flow of beer. Kinda ended the day nicely with a tall cold beer.

I need to collect all pics from colleagues as I did not take many pictures due to me not being a trigger happy camwhore :P

I suppose now I will unwind with some Grand Theft Auto 4 with Zeke.

I’m thinking of reviewing Weezer’s Red Album and probably N.E.R.D’s Seeing Sounds album, the two most played album on me iPod.

And yes I still want an iPhone. I accept cash and cheque donations :D

I am the greatest man that ever lived, I was born to give and give and give – Weezer, The Greatest Man that Ever Lived

P.S. The music played at the annual dinner was surprisingly good and not cheesy, really ideal for raves albeit there was some popular music played periodically. Euphoria here I come!!! Anyone wanna join me? :P
